Reefing projects and building capacity
TRS has experienced significant growth in the last month. To me, that means our strategy is working! What is that strategy? Well in brief: offer corals and live culture products at affordable prices; actively engage the community through social media, hobbyist events and outreach/education; also to quickly grow variety in offering and capacity for production. Right now, we are in growth mode and that means reinvesting into TRS. We are sourcing more corals, setting up additional grow out tanks and listening to the community to find out what is in demand.
We are trying to actively document our journey through social media and will be doing more of that on this blog. Some might focus on presenting a highly polished version of their operations. That’s great too, our colleagues in the coral business have carved a niche and share high quality products. However, we believe in authenticity and transparency. Keeping prices down means we have to seek deals and find low-cost solutions, sometimes that means things aren’t always super polished “under the hood”. Our bet is people will appreciate coming on this journey with us and learn something themselves along the way.
In our experience, saltwater aquariums are presented as a high investment hobby, where you need the top of the line to succeed. We have found with a little bit of time and energy the hobby is not as daunting or as expensive as it is often presented. The point here isn’t to say our way is better, we will always have a lot to learn, and lots of people have found great success implementing these high investment approaches. Rather, we aim to reach a new audience by showing there is ways to get into the saltwater aquarium hobby without breaking the bank.
The goal of starting this blog is to share our experiences, knowledge and to provide some insight into how things are progressing at TRS. If you’re interested, follow along. We will provide educational and hopefully entertaining content to execute on our strategic goals of outreach and education!
